When integrating sports betting APIs into your platform, it's crucial to distinguish between gaming and gambling functionalities. For gaming sites that do not facilitate real-money betting, incorporating real-time sports odds can enhance user engagement without crossing into regulated gambling territory.
However, even when not handling actual bets, displaying official odds and related data may involve licensing considerations. This includes permissions for using league logos, team names, and proprietary data feeds. For instance, the NCAA has established agreements with sportsbooks for the use of official game data and logos, emphasizing the importance of proper licensing to avoid legal complications.
ReutersTo navigate these complexities, partnering with reputable API providers like Innosoft can be beneficial. They offer comprehensive solutions that ensure compliance with licensing requirements while delivering accurate and up-to-date sports data. By choosing such providers, you can enhance your gaming platform responsibly and within legal boundaries.

Betting for real money is always going to be a no-no; it's a gaming site, not a gambling site. There are APIs around to get odds on various games ( https://rapidapi.com/collection/sports-odds-betting-apis ), but there also becomes a question of licensing not only for the odds, but potentially also the sports and teams.

I think this is a great idea and would be amazing if there was a way to implement it. One of the CA's (Bren) did hold sports betting from time to time but I know it probably took him a lot of time and planning which was quite a tough job on top of life and CA duties.
