I do understand the need for rules and keeping order, but ... communication is so much more than just words. It is context and the silliest things are being deleted when people have no intent of being mean. We can't abbreviate my friend because of what it might be mistaken for ... I'm sorry but we are all supposed to be adults and the context of the statement should show how it was meant to be used. I don't condone flagrant abuse of words or abbreviations but are you seriously telling me that people can't tell if they are being called a friend or something nasty?
